Integrated Supply Chain Model

Voyageur Pharmaceutical’s “Earth to Bottle” strategy is a complete, vertically integrated supply chain that provides an unmatched competitive advantage. We are poised to be the only radiology drug manufacturer in North America to control our own critical mineral resources, including barite and iodine. This model provides us with complete control over the entire value chain—from our 100% owned, pharmaceutical-grade barite deposit through processing, manufacturing, and sales. The value of this integration is transformative, allowing us to source pharmaceutical-grade barium at an estimated $650 per tonne, a cost that is dramatically lower than the $10,000 per tonne price of foreign imports. This delivers two clear benefits: a secure and reliable North American supply chain and a unique cost advantage.

Canadian Barite Resource

Voyageur Pharmaceutical’s flagship resource is a quarry located in British Columbia, Canada. The quarry is a unique geological source of high-grade, pharmaceutical-grade barite. This resource is 100 per cent owned by Voyageur Pharmaceuticals.

A 2022 Preliminary Economic Assessment (PEA) confirmed the significant potential of the quarry:

  • World-Class Resource: A 120,000-tonne USP (US Pharmacopeia) barium resource.
  • Long-Term Supply: This deposit is enough to meet the current global market demand for over 50 years.


Our History and Track Record

Our leadership team has a proven track record of advancing barite from the exploration phase to production, through to the end consumer.

The quarry in Canada was initially planned for industrial markets. However, our team’s expertise led to the identification of the deposit’s high-purity, pharmaceutical-grade nature. Recognizing the higher margins and critical need in the health care market, Voyageur Pharmaceuticals pivoted to develop one of the few global sources for high-purity barite suitable for medical use.
